Canadian gets 14-year sentence for supporting terrorists
This article is about a man named Tahawwur Rana. Tahawwur is a man from Pakistan descent that was a Canadian Citizen. He was sent to jail for 14 years today. Tahawwur was convicted of supporting the Pakistan terrorist group known as "Lashkar-e-Taiba". This Terrorist organization was planning an attack on a Danish newspaper that posted a cartoon of the profit Mohamed in there newspaper. In the Muslim religion it is forbidden for the profit to be seen. Although the plot was never carried out this man was supporting the terrorist group and giving them information. There were people that believed this Canadian should have been given 30 years in jail as opposed to the 14 he is currently sentenced to. Because he was linked to terrorism there are many people that believe that this man should be sentenced to 30 years not 14.
I personally think that this man disgraced his country and his name. He disgraced his country by helping a terrorist group attack an innocent newspaper company. Although it was never said that the company purposely or unintentionally put the profit in there comic there is still no excuse for what action they were going to take place. Although it didn't happen it could have happened anytime in the near future. I know and I am sure you are aware that attacking a newspaper because they put your profit visible? Think about all the innocent people they could have killed that worked in the newspaper. Think about all the people they could have killed that had no relation to the Newspaper? i also think that it is ridiculous considering the comic was produced in 2005. The fact that this man was helping an organization that had the idea to take deathly actions for a comic made in 2005 sickens me. I think this man should get 30 years in jail because even though nothing happened he was fully aware an attack was going ti happen and it could become fatal to the innocent. And he still went along with it.
